A Few Words from Stephen King

My hero, Mr. King, did a talk at UMass Lowell, and here’s the results. He’s kind of meandering, and somewhat foul mouthed (c’mon, if you’ve read one of his books, you should expect no less), but very amusing and interesting to watch nonetheless. His discussion at the beginning regarding filtering ideas – how the good ones will stick around, like a bit of sand or grit, and eventually turn into a pearl – was particularly interesting to me, as well as his discussion about not knowing what the hell is going to happen until it does and letting a story be whatever it wants to be, instead of placing limitations or expectations on it. Worth a watch. At least, I think so.
