It’s unfortunate that, in my experience, there’s too few libraries willing to do these things. A lot of them in my area seem to think opening the doors, dropping the public dollars in their bank account and saying “We have books… and stuff” once a year is enough. Quite depressing. I’ve written before of the importance of the library to the community, and the need for libraries to position themselves as essential services.
